SPARTA, Kentucky (May 10, 2007) - - Coming off his fourth consecutive top-10 finish last Sunday afternoon at Winchester Speedway, sophomore ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) driver Dexter Bean looks to Kentucky Speedway to continue his wave of momentum.
BlackJack Racing is bringing the same components that have enabled the team to turn heads in their second full year of ARCA racing. Rolling off the hauler Friday will be the same No. 6 Five Star Telecom Chevrolet Monte Carlo that produced a ninth place finish at Nashville Superspeedway and a respectable 10th place finish at Kansas Speedway last month. The other component is the confidence and enthusiastic BlackJack Racing crew. Without them, none of this would be happening.
What many don’t know is the BlackJack team is unloading a brand new motor under the hood of the team’s entry giving them the most horsepower they’ve ever had which is bad news for the rest of the competition.
“ Kentucky should be an exciting weekend for BlackJack Racing,” said Dexter Bean, who sits third in the championship standings behind Justin Allgaier and leader Frank Kimmel. “We’re bringing a good car and a stout motor. We’re hoping to continue the string of first time winners Saturday night.”
Bean doesn’t have a top-10 finish at the Northern Kentucky based track, but don’t let that stat fool you. Bean has picked up top-10 performances at Nashville Superspeedway and Winchester Speedway tracks this season, venues he didn’t conquer in 2006. Now, Bean hopes third time is a charm and in a big way.
In addition to the chance of notching his first ARS victory of his career, Bean could also set a new milestone by walking away with the championship lead should his fellow competitors run into misfortune. Entering Kentucky , Bean sits just five points from second-place runner Allgaier and a mere 45 credits behind eight time and reigning ARCA champion Kimmel.
While BlackJack Racing is still searching for additional sponsorship of Bean’s No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the team is glad to have local longtime supporter Five Star Telecom onboard this weekend as an associate sponsor.
Since their beginning in 1973, FST (Five Star Telecom), a long-time supporter of Bean’s racing career has become one of the largest interconnect companies in the Upper Midwest , with multiple locations serving the tri-state area.
Rolling into Kentucky, Dexter Bean has 33 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with three-top fives finishes and 11 top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of second at Salem Speedway (April 2007). He owns the 2006 ARCA SIM Factory pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best superspeedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 114 laps in four races.
BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact Robert Weiss at rweiss9@wi.rr.com or 414.763.9231.
The Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 (100 laps/150 miles) is the seventh of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The event is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 12 with a two hour (10:30am-12:00pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag under the lights beginning at 8:00pm Local Time. The event will not be televised. However, race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
