Rookie To Lead Carter-2-Motorsports Parade
SPARTA, Kentucky (May 10, 2007) - - Nick Tucker showed his talent last Sunday at Winchester Speedway despite a 26th place finish. After moving his FreeFeds.org Dodge Charger to a thrilling second, the engine seized and collapsed what could have been a career best for Tucker and his Carter-2-Motorsports team.
Reflecting on the finish, the team heads to Kentucky Speedway hoping to prove their performance was no fluke and notch their first top-10 finish of the season. Their goal won’t be easy. But what goal is? Determination and teamwork wins and that’s the motto the team is carrying into Saturday night’s Buckle-Up Kentucky 150.
Driving Dodge Chargers fielded by Roger Carter II, Tucker hopes to rekindle his knowledge about the 1.5-mile speed plant in time for Saturday’s race activities. Tucker made a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) start two years ago at Kentucky Speedway driving for Brevak Motorsports. After starting 33rd, he charged through the field to finish 23rd.
With some knowledge about the track, Tucker hopes to lead his team towards their best finish of the season in the first of two events at the Northern Kentucky based track this year.
“ Kentucky is a fun place to race,” recalled Tucker. “It’s very fast and smooth. It has the tendencies to be forgiving, which makes it a great place to race. We had a good run going last weekend before mechanical failure took us from the hunt. Hopefully we can bounce back with a good run on Saturday night.”
With a strong entry list for the seventh race of the 2007 ARS season, Tucker knows the first speedway night race of the season has the opportunity to be one of the best races of the season, but he has to finish.
“We’ve struggled a lit bit with our intermediate program this season,” he explained. “We’ve been okay. But that’s not good enough. We need to gain some points and move ahead in the standings. I think we just have to race smart, use some strategy and most importantly take the checkered flag and we should collect a good finish.”
Not only is a good finish important to Tucker’s ARCA resume, but it’s important to gain points. The team currently holds 24th in both owner and driver points and the group would like to leave the track safely inside the top-20.
“Points are crucial. We may not have a chance at the championship, but it’s important for us to move up the ladder. The owner’s points especially will help this team should we have any hiccups during qualifying the rest of the year. This team doesn’t want to miss any races from now until October and I don’t plan to let that happen.”
The Free Feds Foundation (FreeFeds.org) will sponsor Tucker as he attempts to make his sixth career ARCA start Saturday.
FreeFeds.org’s sole purpose is to gain public support for adding parole for non-violent, non repeat offenders to the federal prison system. They are of the belief that the federal justice system is in need of a total reform. The organization, however, is mainly interested in working toward adding a system of parole for non-violent offenders as part of that overall reform.
In addition to FreeFeds.org, Explore America, The Idaho Observer, RVrentToGo.com, 100fold.net, and Accelerating Developments International (ADI) will join the team’s effort at Kentucky Speedway.
Carter-2-Motorsports (www.carter2motorsports.com) whose ARCA RE/MAX Series operation is based in Statesville , North Carolina will run Dodge Chargers in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (NNC) in 2007. The team will run the No. 48 handed over from the legendary James Hylton who retired from ARCA competition following the 2006 season finale at the new Iowa Speedway. The organization will also run a second ARCA team part time this season utilizing the No. 67. The organization also plans to run the No. 54 in the premier series of NASCAR, the NNC series later this year.
The Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 (100 laps/150 miles) is the seventh of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The event is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 12 with a two hour (10:30am-12:00pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag under the lights beginning at 8:00pm Local Time. The event will not be televised. However, race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
