“Fourth In Points; Bean Returns To New Track With Unfinished Business”

Sophomore ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Dexter Bean made a statement at Iowa Speedway last October and the Wisconsin native has continued that statement early into the 2007 ARCA season, but the statement is not complete without his first victory. Bean is looking to close that statement with a win in Saturday’s Prairie Meadows 250.

Last season, Bean turned heads by setting the fastest time in the first practice session. Despite some hiccups in ARCA qualifying, Bean blasted from his 19th place time trials effort to quickly thunder his No. 6 Five Star Telecom Chevrolet into the top-10.

Despite being entangled in another competitor’s mess late in the race, Bean overcame the obstacle to finish the race on the lead lap with a strong seventh. Eight months later, Bean is looking for more, a whole lot more under the lights.

“ Iowa , I love that place,” said the Westby, Wisconsin resident. “We had a good car, probably one of the best of the 2006 season, but we came up just a little bit short. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off this weekend.”

The last two races have seen solid finishes swept away with race late disaster. A flat tire while running in the top-five at Kentucky and an overaggressive driver took Bean from another top-10 finish two weeks ago at Toledo Speedway. Bean hopes that his late race foils are gone for now and the team can return to championship status.

“We’ve had a good season thus far,” added Bean. “We’ve done everything we needed to do to stay in this hunt. No one has an edge this year, it’s (championship) going to come down to the last race, I can feel it. I think if we can continue to dig and avoid any potential disasters, we should be in the mix in October.”

The BlackJack Racing team is bringing the same automobile that they competed with in last year’s thriller. It is also the same machine that team has raced at Nashville Superspeedway, Kansas Speedway and most recently Kentucky Speedway this season. Finishes of ninth ( Nashville ) and 10th ( Kansas ) have been the strongest showing for the car this season, but Bean hopes to find a little more and end his winless drought.

“We’ve been close this year on several occasions, but we just haven’t had quite enough to seal the deal. We’re making sure everything is equipped for this race, because I want to win it, bad.”

While BlackJack Racing is still searching for additional sponsorship of Bean’s No. 6 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the team is glad to have local longtime supporter Five Star Telecom onboard this weekend as an associate sponsor.

Since their beginning in 1973, FST (Five Star Telecom), a long-time supporter of Bean’s racing career has become one of the largest interconnect companies in the Upper Midwest , with multiple locations serving the tri-state area.

Rolling into Iowa, Dexter Bean has 35 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with three-top fives finishes and 11 top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of second at Salem Speedway (April 2007). He owns the 2006 ARCA SIM Factory pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best speedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 114 laps in four races.

BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact BlackJack Racing at david@mwt.net or 608.634.4242

The Prairie Meadows 250 (200 laps/168 miles) is the ninth of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. This second annual Prairie Meadows 250 is a one day show. Practice begins Saturday, June 2 with a two hour (11:30am-1:30pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated for later in the afternoon at 4:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag under the lights beginning at 8:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com
