“Fast Track Racing Driver Looking For Stronger Second Half”

MARNE, Michigan (July 3, 2007) - - If there is one team or one driver that deserves a break on the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour, many fingers point to Florida’s Bryan Silas.

The rookie driver has matured into a strong weekly competitor in his first full season of competition, but a string of bad luck has kept the likable driver from gaining the finishes he’s worked hard for.

But, as the 2007 ARS season embraces the halfway mark, Silas looks to become one of the hottest drivers on the tour and with the guidance and support of car owner Andy Hillenburg, there’s no reason why that goal can’t become a reality.

“I’m looking forward to putting the stretch of unlucky breaks behind us and becoming a more consistent threat during the second half of the season,” said Bryan Silas.

“Our Fast Track Racing team has been running good the last couples of weeks especially at Pocono Raceway and Michigan International Speedway, but circumstances beyond our control have resulted in finishes that we didn’t deserve. Hopefully this two-week break is exactly what we needed and we can bring home a top-10 finish on Saturday night.”

Berlin Raceway holds mixed feelings for the ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year candidate. Last season, Silas looked solid off the hauler, qualified a then career-best eighth but was entangled in an early race accident which exited the driver from competition.

Silas, 20, hopes that a new year and a different team yields better results.

“I like Berlin Raceway. I know how to get around there, that’s a good thing. We’ve had good cars on the short track this season, so I am really looking forward to a strong run on Saturday night. Berlin is a unique racetrack but I seem to excel at those types of tracks, so hopefully we can finish what we’ve started the last couple of weeks.”

Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will all sponsor the No. 11 Chevrolet in Silas’s second ever event at Berlin Raceway.

“I have the greatest sponsors on the tour,” Silas explained. “They are behind this team 150 percent and that says a lot. We’re heading to Berlin looking to give them our best performance of the year!”

After a tire failure resulted in a 32nd place finish at MIS, Silas slipped from ninth to 11th in the championship standings just 65 points from returning to the top-10 and 85 markers from retaining the ninth spot.

Silas stands just 32 points from the top spot in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year standings held by Phillip McGilton and Michael McDowell who are tied for the lead.

Heading into Berlin, Silas has 17 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of eighth at Salem Speedway (April 2007) while holding an additional top-10 performance at USA International Speedway (March 2007). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of eighth at Berlin Raceway and Iowa Speedway (July 2006 and June 2007). A fourth place qualifying effort at Pocono Raceway (June 2007) is Silas’s best speedway run to date. He has controlled the ARCA field for 15 laps in one race.

The Request Foods-GFS 200 (200 laps/88 miles) is the 12th of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 20th ARCA race held at Berlin Raceway is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, July 7 with an hour and a half practice (2:30pm-4:00pm) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 5:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag later that night at 8:30pm Local Time. The race will not be televised. However, additional race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
