“Local Native Looks For Kentucky Speedway Debut”

SPARTA, Kentucky (July 11, 2007) - - Brett Hudson is known in the ARCA RE/MAX Series as a accomplished and tremendous short track driver, but as the series strolls towards it’s return to Kentucky Speedway this Friday, Hudson will like to raise the bar a bit by competing in his second ever speedway event and give the garage something else to talk about.

Of course, Hudson enters Kentucky on a long stretch of momentum after collecting a top-five finish at Salem Speedway earlier this month. While the positive finish is still fresh in the youngster’s mind, Hudson knows Kentucky Speedway is a whole new game.

“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a long time,” said Hudson . “Our Brett Hudson Motorsports team has really stepped up the challenge that we know this race will bring. I was looking at the entry list and it’s going to be a very competitive field, which means we have to be on top of our game.”

To better prepare himself and his team for Friday’s WLWT Channel 5-150, Hudson, a native of Owensboro , Kentucky participated in the open test session late last month. During the day of testing, Hudson whipped his No. 43 Dodge Charger around the track in 31.85 seconds amounting to a speed of 169.545 MPH, netting him 13th on the unofficial rundown. Hudson was pleased with the open test, but knows he is returning to the 1.5-mile facility with a lot more.

“We’ve really been thrashing on a lot of things to prepare us for Friday. Our goal heading into any race we compete is to win. The odds may seem to be against us, but this team has so much determination that it makes up for the cons we are facing. If we can’t contend for a win, we just want to finish the race as high as we can and learn for next year.”

Sponsoring Hudson ’s entry for the 13th race held at Kentucky Speedway will be Habitat for Humanity based in Daviess County Kentucky, just outside of Hudson ’s hometown of Owensboro . Republic Bank also will step up to the plate and co-sponsor Hudson ’s attempt to make his 12th career ARS start.

“We have some great partners on board for this race. Everyone knows the goals surrounding the Habitat for Humanity program. I am just honored to help continue in their quest while also promoting and representing Republic Bank, one of the leading financial institutions based in Kentucky . The race is televised, so a good run under the lights would give our sponsors the run they are looking for.”

Hudson’s 2007 ARS schedule still isn’t set in stone for the second half of the season, but the veteran short track competitor assures his fans that he plans to visit the tour more often.

“We are continually working on expanding our schedule for the season. We have some leads in the sponsorship department and we’re just trying to make everything work. Don’t be surprised if you see us in a hand full of races the rest of the year. We’re also digging hard to try and put a program together that will allow us to step up to the plate and run a full schedule in 2008.”

The WLWT Channel 5-150 (100 laps/150 miles) is the 13 of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 13th ARCA race held at Kentucky Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, July 13 with a two hour and 15 minute (11:30am-1:45pm) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 4:30pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag shortly after 8:00pm Local Time with live coverage on SPEED. Additional race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com

Brett Hudson has made one ARCA RE/MAX Series start this season at Salem Speedway this past April. After starting eighth, Hudson used his veteran knowledge of the brutal short track to score a fourth place finish, a career best.

Brett Hudson Motorsports will hang up the Chevrolet bowtie this weekend and roll out a brand new Dodge Charger the team purchased during the 2006 off season. The car will make its BHM (Brett Hudson Motorsports) debut on Friday night.

Brett Hudson competed in the Frank Kimmel Enduro race at Kentucky Speedway this past May. Overheating problems kept the local native from grabbing the inaugural event win after spending much of the race in the lead pack.

Brett Hudson’s previous speedway effort occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in April 2006. After qualifying his No. 62 Hudson Machine Chevrolet Monte Carlo 28th, the rookie maneuvered his way through the field to finish 20th.
