“ Kalamazoo Native Grabs Top-20 Finish Under Hometown Lights”
MARNE, Michigan (July 11, 2007) - - Saturday’s Request Foods-GFS 200 from Berlin Raceway was a chance for Jim Hollenbeck to shine. He made the best of it in one of the most competitive fields of the 2007 season with a solid 17th place finish.
Hollenbeck, of nearby Kalamazoo , Michigan headed into the 12th race of the 2007 looking to net his second start of the season. For the second-generation driver, he was looking to just finish after an early race incident in last year’s showing took the local hero from competition.
In the first and only round of practice leading up to qualifying, Hollenbeck turned the 23rd fastest lap with a time of 18.825 seconds or 83.761 MPH.
“The car is good, but we ran into some brake problems during practice,” said Hollenbeck. “The guys did a great job repairing the car; we’ll try and step it up in qualifying. Step it up he did.
In ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying, Hollenbeck maneuvered his No. 62 AV3 Ford Fusion around the .4-mile track with a time of 18.162 seconds at 86.819 MPH, good enough for 18th on the starting grid.
At the start of 200 lap/88 mile event, Hollenbeck settled in the top-20 and that’s where he remained for the 12th installment on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.
Despite a gallant effort to fight his way into the top-15, Hollenbeck came up short despite once again battling brake problems.
His 17th place effort Saturday bettered his previous 36th place finish of the season coming at Michigan International Speedway a few weeks prior.
“All in all, I can’t complain,” said Hollenbeck. “We came here with a job to do and we accomplished it. I’m really happy we made it to the checkered flag. Last year, we didn’t even get the tires warmed up and we were gone. This year, we learned a lot and we’re making improvements and we’ll look to our next event, probably at The Milwaukee Mile.”
For the second time this season, Hollenbeck partnered with AV3.
AV3 was started so physicians could control their lives and destiny. The company was founded by four vascular surgeons who are familiar with the current limitations and opportunities of the constantly changing health care environment. AV3 stands to improve the quality of healthcare within the physician’s control.
“I want to thank AV3 for being a part of our team. Their support means the world to this team. We’re picking up the pace as our season progresses on, we’ll just have to try and grab a top-15 in a couple weeks.”
Hollenbeck Motorsports still has openings on their Ford for the remainder of the 2007 season. Immediate one race or long term sponsorship positions are available. Contact the team today and see how the ARCA RE/MAX Series provides a ROI (Return-On-Investment).
Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a return to Kentucky Speedway for the running of the WLWT Channel 5-150 under the lights this Friday night.
