LEBANON, Tennessee (Wednesday, August 8, 2007) - - Wayman Wittman and Stan Hover Motorsports head to Nashville Superspeedway looking to rebound from their disappointing performance last weekend at Pocono Raceway and by all accounts, everything should run smoother this weekend.
The team ran into problems with an oil leak early into the race forcing an early exit with the event. With the leak fixed the team enters, “ Music City ” looking to hit a high note and give Wittman a career run.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend,” said Wittman, a native of Wisconsin . “It’s unfortunate that we had the problems we did in Pocono. The good news is that everything is fixed and we should be raring to go this weekend in Nashville .”
With a huge and strong entry list expected for Saturday’s TOYOTA ARCA 150, Wittman knows that practice time is crucial on Friday.
“Every minute of practice is going to be important this weekend,” said Wittman. “Stan (Hover) has been in Motorsports a long time, so I’m not worried about the setup of the racecar, but I’ve never been to Nashville Superspeedway, so every opportunity that we get on the track, I’m going to take advantage of it.”
Wittman is in the second of three races for Stan Hover Motorsports this season. After competing at Pocono Raceway last week, Wittman looks at Nashville Superspeedway as a race to gain some confidence heading into the final race at Talladega Superspeedway in October.
“It’s good to be back racing,” continued Wittman. “The race this weekend is a chance for our team to shine. We’ll have some time off before we go to Talladega and I know if we can walk away from Nashville with a solid run, we won’t be forgotten as we head into Talladega .”
Wittman also knows that Nashville is a chance for his career to shine and he hopes to make the best of it.
“I’m trying to get ahead in my career. I have an extensive background in racing. From late models in Wisconsin to NASCAR touring, but I feel the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a chance for me to make a name for myself. Up until Pocono, I haven’t competed in the series since 2002 and I want to use the next two races to build my name. Stan is going to give me everything he can to get the job done and I don’t plan to let him down. A good top-15 run is what we’re searching for and I think with a little luck, I think we can get the job did
He continued, “We have three races scheduled for this season and we’re doing everything we can to find additional support to maybe add a race or more this season. We’re really concentrating on next year. We’re going to try and run a heavy racing schedule next year, we just need the marketing partners to do it. It’s a big project. We’ll be working on between Nashville and Talladega ,” explained Wittman, who carries a degree from the University of Minnesota in management, marketing and theatrical stage management.
The TOYOTA ARCA 150 (113 laps/150 miles) is the 15 of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 14th ARCA race held at Nashville Superspeedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, August 10 with a two hour and a half hour (11:00am-1:30pm) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 5:30pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag on Saturday, August 11 shortly after 2:30pm Local Time with live coverage on SPEED. Additional race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
