California's move to regulate vehicle emissions by the end of the decade to help reduce greenhouse gases puts another arrow in the quiver of those who would like to rid the nation of its most popular car.
The gas-thirsty sport-utility vehicle, or SUV, is a cross between a comfortable sedan and a brawny small truck. It is despised by critics as unsafe, polluting, and a bully on the highway. But in this Dateline story, VOA's Ted Landphair reports that nothing so far has been able to wreck America's love affair with the SUV.
