Rain Expected Saturday

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - International Sport Compact Auto Racing Series (ISCARS) DASH Touring, Sanctioned by American Speed Association (ASA) announces plans to complete the 2008 season at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC on Sunday, October 26th.

With rain in the forecast for most of the day Saturday, we feel it best to take advantage of the time allowed to utilize our advertising to inform the fans that the race will be on Sunday afternoon.

We are trying to make the best evaluation of the situation. It iwas still forecast to be rainy until 2pm on Saturday. Considering the time it takes to dry the track and get in practice and qualifying, we were taking a big chance of even getting the show in. Then add to it the colder temps at night. We felt it best to be safe and bump the event to Sunday since the weather looks to be perfect.

ISCARS DASH Touring plans to hold two 75 lap races which will bookend the race schedule. In between the DASH races will be two features which will include the Super Cup Series and also the Southeast Super Mini-Cup Series.

While the two 75 lap events will determine the 2008 ISCARS DASH Touring Champion, there will be plenty more on tap for the fans to enjoy.

NASCAR great, Geoff Bodine will be competing in both DASH races. Meet him in person to obtain your autograph and even take a photo while enjoying the traditional on track pre-race session with the stars of ISCARS.

Hollywood Stuntman James Smith will be on hand to drive an ISCARS stunt car on two wheels around the Hickory Motor Speedway. Smith recently drove the yellow Camaro called “Bubble Bee” in the movie Transformers. Smith also participates in Dukes Fest.

Making an annual appearance with ISCARS will be the Duke’s General Lee and several show cars. Tom Sorrento (Duke’s behind the scene mechanic) will have two simulators on display. The kids will enjoy climbing through the window of an authentic General Lee to experience a simulated jump just like in the show!

Also appearing will be Byron Cherry (alias Coy Duke) and Jerry Rushing whose real life story inspired the movie Moon Runners and the Dukes of Hazzard Sitcom.
