GEELONG CAT RIDES WITH SBR AT SANDOWN

Stone Brothers Racing
July 22, 2009

Ford’s long and proud association with the Geelong Football Club will see factory backed V8 Supercar teams Stone Brothers Racing and Ford Performance Racing run a special livery at the upcoming Norton 360 Sandown event in celebration of the AFL Cats 150th anniversary.

The Ford Motor Company has partnered the seven-time AFL Premiership team since 1925, the longest running sponsorship in the history of sport. Ford’s relationship with the Geelong Football Club of over 80 years reflects the amount of time that the iconic motor company has been manufacturing vehicles in Australia.

During the Norton 360 Sandown event the Geelong Cats logo will appear on the front bumper bar of both the SP Tools and IRWIN Racing FG Falcons and will also feature on both FPR entries in place of the customary falcon on the rear quarters.

As part of the collaboration FPR’s Steven Richards accompanied his Castrol Racing FG Falcon to Skilled Stadium for the Cat’s clash with the Melbourne Demons last weekend.

Ross Stone, SBR Team Principal

“SBR’s relationship with the Ford Motor Company stems back as far as 10 years and to me that feels like a great achievement. To see a club like Geelong run the same sponsor for over 80 years is a great example of Ford’s commitment to Australian sport.

“I enjoy AFL and have been a fan of the Brisbane Lions for years. That being said the Cats have had an amazing run in the AFL comp in recent years so hopefully running the clubs logo will bring us some luck at Sandown!”

The Norton 360 Sandown event will take place on August 1st and 2nd.
