V8 YOUNG GUN GETS BEHIND SP 'TOOLS FOR KIDS'
Stone Brothers Racing
September 30, 2009
V8 Supercar driver, Shane van Gisbergen took time out of his busy mid-season schedule last week to visit the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane in the lead up to the Super GP event on the Gold Coast. SBR’s chosen charity the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation is the fundraising arm of QLD’s Royal Children’s Hospital and works wonders for more than 100,000 sick kids each year.
During the three day Gold Coast Super GP motorsport festival the #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon will run a special livery featuring the Royal Children Hospital logo in an effort to raise money under the SP ‘Tools for Kids’ program. Team sponsor, SP Tools have had a one-off helmet made that will be worn by van Gisbergen at the Super GP event and auctioned off for the children’s charity.
V8 Supercar’s youngest driver, Shane van Gisbergen has also pledged to personally donate $5000 to the cause.
“I am extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to race V8 Supercars, it was a dream of mine since I was a kid, so donating $5000 is the least I could do to help support the SP ‘Tools for Kids’ program.”
“Visiting the kids is a real eye opener, they have a lot on their plate but the staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane do a fantastic job of keeping their spirits up,” said van Gisbergen
SP Tools showed their support for the Royal Children’s Hospital last year when they auctioned off a tool box raising $10,000 for the children’s charity. SP Tools Managing Director, Kevin Davis is proud to continue supporting the RCH Foundation.
“Our company setup the SP ‘Tools For Kids’ program as a way to give back to the community, any charity that involves kids we feel is a great cause and we are proud to support the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
“We encourage our fan base to get behind the cause.”
The one off helmet that will be worn by van Gisbergen at the Super GP event will go up for auction when the bidding window opens on Thursday 8th October. The auction will run for three weeks closing on Thursday 29th October at 5pm. Bids can be made online at www.sptoolsracing.com/auction
Other auction items available include an Oakley Racing set of boots and gloves worn by Shane van Gisbergen at the Super GP Gold Coast event, donated by Autofocus and a brand new Citizen ‘Eco Drive’ Super Chronograph Watch, donated by Citizen Watches.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the Royal Children Hospital Foundation to help fund groundbreaking medical research and equipment and find better treatments and cures for childhood illnesses.
