SBR IN THE MIX AT THE AGP

Stone Brothers Racing
March 27, 2010

Stone Brothers Racing were well in the mix again during the second race of the BRC IMPCO V8 Supercar Challenge today. Once again the race was run under clouds with a hint of rain making an appearance in the opening laps. Shane van Gisbergen made it as high as 2nd in the race but fell back to 4th when Jamie Whincup made a charge through the field. Van Gisbergen looked likely to take 3rd place on the final lap when he made a pass on James Courtney but was forced out wide, crossing the line 4th.

IRWIN Racing’s Alex Davison put in another solid drive passing three cars to finish 11th.

Davison’s progress over the weekend has seen the #4 FG Falcon move up from 19th to just outside the top ten.

Tim Slade had another challenging day in the Wilson Security Racing Falcon, caught up in the midfield. Slade managed to avoid incident throughout the 13 laps finishing the race in 17th, one place ahead of his starting position.

Shane van Gisbergen – Driver, SP Tools Racing Car #9

“I was having a lot of fun out there!

“We made a few changes to the car since yesterday’s race so the car felt different, when I got some clear track I worked out where the car should be and managed to get going.

“I started pressuring James [Courtney] at the end there, I had a heap of speed but just couldn’t get past him. On the last lap I got beside him on the second last corner and ended up on the grass.

“It would have been nice to finish where I did yesterday but I am really happy with how the car is going, we are on the right track, I feel like all of the guys racing at the front are pretty evenly matched.”

Alex Davison – Driver, IRWIN Racing Car #4

“I would have liked to get into the top ten but we were close. We have done what we had hoped to do this weekend and that’s keep moving forward so hopefully we can keep it up in tomorrow’s race.”

Tim Slade – Driver, Wilson Security Racing Car #47

“Even though I only made up one position I think the race was a lot better today. It was good to stay out of all the drama that happens when you are in that end of the field.

“Tomorrow I will again try to stay out of trouble and see where we end up.”

Tomorrow the V8 Supercars take to the track for Race 3 at 2:20pm AEDT before the AGP main event, Round 2 of the Formula One Championship.
