SBR ON TRACK FOR STRONG CLIPSAL PERFORMANCE

With today’s four practice sessions now complete, Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) are confident of a good showing in tomorrow’s qualifying and first race at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

SP Tools Racer Shane van Gisbergen was the quickest of the SBR Falcons, finishing his two sessions in seventh place. Tim Slade in the Lucky 7 Racing Falcon was right behind him in ninth, while an extremely ill Alex Davison pushed himself to finish the day in 21st position.

Team Principal Ross Stone was happy with his drivers’ performance considering both Shane van Gisbergen and Alex Davison are suffering the effects of a nasty virus.

“Once again everyone is very close and our cars are running well,” Stone said.

“I think with the boys’ health being as bad as it is we couldn’t have asked them for much more today,” he added.

“That was ok once we got going but as usual I would have liked more time in the car. I still find it a strange rule where the likes of Tander and Johnson can score themselves an extra 40 minutes of track time because they had a poor start to the year, anyway things are looking good for tomorrow and I’m slowly feeling better after the last few days of being crook.”

“That was a good outing for me this afternoon. It’s no secret my history here has been quite chequered performance-wise so it feels pretty good to finish today on a good note. There’s still a lot more in me and the car so I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.”

Alex Davison – Driver, IRWIN Racing Car #4

“Today was obviously a very tough day for me. This bug has really been knocking me around since last night so I’m not the sharpest in the car right now. That said, we did our best to work through our program today and although we’re not quite there yet I think tomorrow if I can pull up a little better we’ll see some improvement.”
