TOLEDO, Ohio (October 11, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) driver Gary Sherman hasn’t competed much this season. In fact, as Sherman enters Toledo this weekend, the short track ace is only attempting to make his second start of the season and what a better a time to do it in the ARCA season finale, the Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire.

Sherman and his Cleary Motorsports team made their typical stop at Berlin Raceway this past July looking for their third straight top-five session at the Marne, Michigan based track. Things were looking in place for Sherman to make history but an untimely caution kept Sherman at bay forcing a 13th place finish.

Now returning to Toledo Speedway, Sherman plans to conquer the half-mile bullring and add another top-10 finish to his already impressive ARCA resume as Sherman plans to make his 10th career ARCA start Sunday afternoon.

“It’s good to be racing this weekend,” said Sherman . “It’s hard to believe that this is only our second race of the season, but we haven’t been able to come up with the funding to do more. Thankfully we’ve been able to put enough together to give Toledo another try and believe me we plan to make the best of the opportunity.”

The former American Speed Association (ASA) driver continued, “We’ve been able to run almost everywhere and be in the top-10 but Toledo has always hindered us for some reason. We finished 12th and 20th their last year and that’s not acceptable for me. There’s no doubt in my mind with the work we’ve done to our Chevrolet Monte Carlo we’ll be a factor on Saturday (practice and qualifying) and Sunday.”

While Cleary Motorsports continues to search for primary and associate sponsorship for the team’s No. 76 Chevrolet Monte Carlo the team is proud to have Clarion Airport & Conference Center ( Toledo , Ohio ) on board this weekend for the season finale.

“Sponsorship is tough, there’s no doubt about it,” Sherman noted. “We’ve done everything in our power to try and make a sponsor a good home, but we’ve haven’t found the perfect partner yet. We will. We haven’t given up and we won’t either. This team deserves to be running the full schedule next year and believe me looking at all of our avenues for next year. We’re excited though to have Clarion Airport & Conference Center on board this weekend and we hope to deliver them a good run!”

Sherman credits car owner Rob Cleary for keeping his dream and Cleary Motorsports alive. “I can’t say enough about Rob Cleary. He is not only my boss but a friend too. We’ve been able to do a lot with very little. We’ve racked in two top-fives and five top-10s in nine races. I want another tally to our top-10 column this weekend and Rob is giving us the ingredients to make it happen,” sounded Sherman .

The Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire (200 laps/100 miles) is the 23rd of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 62nd ARCA race held at Toledo Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, October 13 with an hour and-a-half hour practice session planned from 12:30-2:00 p.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 3:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag on October 14th, shortly after 2:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
