INDIANTOWN, Florida (November 8, 2007) - - Sheltra Motorsports officially announced today the signing of well-known Motorsports Public Relations representative Chris Knight to the team’s full time roster effective immediately.
Knight, 24 will serve as Director of Marketing & Communications for the sophomore-bound ARCA RE/MAX Series team. He will also handle the day-to-day office operations of the team’s Whitesville , Kentucky shop beginning in January. In addition, he will also be responsible for handling Sheltra’s transition to the NASCAR ranks on a limited basis next year.
The Redford, Michigan native handled rookie Patrick Sheltra’s at-track Public Relations duties for a majority of the 2007 ARCA season.
“We are very excited to have someone of Chris’s caliber onboard with us here at Sheltra Motorsports,” stated car owner Grace Sheltra. “He is well known in the garages in both NASCAR and ARCA and we feel having him on our side full time in 2008 will pay off in a huge way. He brings a lot of enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication to our team. We’re just thrilled to have him.”
Sheltra, who finished seventh in ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Points in his rookie season, echoed his car owner’s statement. “I know I have a good guy,” noted Sheltra. “I approached Chris near the end of the season about coming on board full time with us. He had some offers on the table and after carefully reviewing his options for next year, he gave us the nod that he would be joining Sheltra Motorsports and we’re all very happy about it. Chris has already done a lot for my career and I know he’ll only continue to further it next season and beyond.”
“I am very humbled about the opportunity that has been given to me by Sheltra Motorsports,” sounded Knight. “After thoroughly reviewing my options for next year, I felt this was the right direction for me. This position will provide new challenges but I am looking forward to every second of it. The Sheltra’s are incredibly good people. I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity. I’m very anxious to get the 2008 season underway.”
Knight will retain his Motorsports Media responsibilities with Catchfence.com and Inside The ARCA RE/MAX Series Radio Show on Race Talk Radio next year as well. “I’m very appreciative to the entire Sheltra Motorsports organization for allowing me to maintain my Media responsibilities next year. That played a huge role in my decision to join them. They support me 150 percent at Catchfence and on Inside ARCA and I can’t ask for much more than that.”
“Slinky” as he is nicknamed in the ARCA garage will lead the Sheltra Motorsports team on December 8 at the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet Annual Press Conference as the team will officially announce the many changes coming to its organization in 2008.
