In a recent seven-day survey on this site the following question was asked. “Do you know someone who has received a traffic ticket in Woodstock since 1/1/09?”
Many thanks to the 45 readers who took time to respond. The results were
Yes: 9 (20%)
No: 36 (80%)
I have: 0
To those nine, how about posting a comment, if you know what traffic violation was cited?
The February 2009 police department report to the City of Woodstock should be in the City Council packet at the library tomorrow for the April 7th Council meeting. My plans are to review the reports for the past 14 months and analyze the number of tickets.
A major problem is the catch-all category of “Other Traffic Arrests”. All the “routine” traffic tickets are lumped into that category, and there is no public breakdown for speeding, stop sign, traffic light, illegal use of two-way left-turn lane, illegal passing or other typical traffic violations.
An interesting comparison would be the percentage of tickets issued, compared to written warnings. Oral warnings are supposed to be history. Are they?
