The Illinois Secretary of State Police confirmed today that it does handle truck enforcement, such as ticketing drivers for untarped loads on gravel trucks and traffic violations such as those that are occurring on U.S. 14 near the gravel pit.
Contrary to the comment posted last week that the SOS Police "do not enforce truck laws", they do. At least, as of 3:50PM today they do, according to an officer in the Rockford SOS Police district office.
When I asked specifically about untarped loads, the response was in the affirmative.
If the Woodstock Police Dept. can't handle the problem without help, assistance is available from the SOS Police, Illinois State Police District 2 at Elgin and, I'm sure, the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. So there are four law enforcement agencies who could keep an eye on the problem at U.S. 14 and Lily Pond Road.
