Turkish Bus Crash Kills 32, Mostly School Children

VOA News
April 14, 2007

Turkish authorities say 32 people, most of them children, were killed Saturday when a bus full of primary school students collided with a truck.

The state-run Anatolia news agency quoted local authorities as saying 30 people were injured.

Anatolia said the crash took place in central Turkey as the bus was carrying children from the western city of Izmir to the tourist region of Cappadocia, known for its unusual rock formations.

The cause of the accident was not known. Anatolia reported that one of the two drivers said he was sleeping when the crash took place.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
