SOPHIA, North Carolina (May 30, 2013) - -NASCAR Whelen-All American Series (NWAAS) driver Taylor Stricklin will be the first to admit that he hasn’t raced as much as he would have liked thus far in 2013.

However, when the opportunity knocks to race, the Mount Ulla, North Carolina native is more than ready to take advantage of the opportunity. This Saturday night, the 24-year old will make his first trip to Caraway (N.C.) Speedway this season for a quick 50-lap feature.

The lack of sponsorship has kept the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Hut Stricklin on the sidelines, but, a solid performance under the lights this weekend can potentially open the door for the former street stock racer to become a more frequent competitor on the NWAAS tour.

“I’m ready for Caraway this weekend,” said Stricklin. “Unfortunately, the lack of sponsorship dollars has kept our team from being at the racetrack more, but when we’re fortunate enough to pick up some help, we definitely try to take advantage of that opportunity.”

This weekend, the Taylor Stricklin Racing (TSR) team will carry the colors of Tyndall Pedic Mattress, a Charlotte-based company. They also sponsored the former college basketball player in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, where Stricklin gained notoriety for his performance.

“It’s been awesome to have the support of Tyndall Pedic Mattress,” sounded Stricklin. “I know without them, we would be again sitting on the sidelines this weekend. Our goal is to go out there and have a good performance not only for them, but also for the other sponsors that we’re talking to.”

Despite his limited experience in late models, Stricklin does have a prior start at the 0.455-mile paved oval in the UARA contest last year. After starting 25th, the grandson of NASCAR legend Donnie Allison vaulted himself through the field to take the checkered flag in 11th.

Most recently, he returned to the track’s footprints and assisted his cousin Justin Allison in the Pro All Star Series (PASS) contest last Friday night, where a fifth place finish was earned.

“Even though I didn’t race, being back at Caraway still helped me,” Stricklin added. “I was able to watch the various lines that the drivers used, see how the track adapts to nighttime, plus see what and didn’t work as far as setup was concerned. All those things mixed together, I inhaled a lot of information and hopefully that will pay dividends in the race on Saturday night.”

Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available for this weekend’s activities, plus the remainder of the 2013 season. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Ashley Jones of Taylor Stricklin Racing at ashley@taylorstricklin.com.
