Although there are lots of lists about the best car companies in the world on the internet these days, most of those lists never tell you what they base their opinion on. I'm going to give you my personal top 3 list here; this list is based on the numbers as well as their models' popularity.
# 3. BMW
Not a single list is ever complete without mentioning this giant from the city of Munich in the Bavarian part of Germany.
BMW was founded in 1927, and has been recognized ever since as the world's leading luxury car manufacturer. The models that launched this company on the best of the bests list are the BMW S1000RR, M6 Coupe and Concept Gran Coupe.
In case you didn't know this, the company owns Rolls Royce and Mini brands as well. Now you can see how huge the company actually is.
# 2. Ford
I simply couldn't neglect to include Ford in this list. Ford is actually in the 8th spot in the world when it comes to the number of models sold, but this company is genuinely known for efficiency and the brand is recognized throughout the world. While it might not be known for its luxury cars (it actually sells luxury cars under the Aston Martin and Lincoln brands which it owns), it is best known for selling middle-class family cars which can last for years and never break down.
The other things that propelled Ford to my top 3 list is the fact that all of the car parts and accessories are pretty much very easy to find in any area of the world.
# 1. Toyota Motor Corporation
Toyota is by all standards probably the best car company in the history of the automotive industry. This Japanese car manufacturer giant was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937.
Basically, it's the biggest car manufacturer in the world. The company itself employs around 350,000 people all around the world. It is interesting to note that Toyota is the world's third largest car company as measured by the number of cars sold, and also it's profits are actually the biggest of all auto makers. They also own spot number 11 as the world's largest company in any industry.
What made Toyota so popular is the fact that the company has never specialized in any specific area or type of vehicle. They are actually great at producing high quality hybrids, electric cars, SUVs, luxury cars and classic or soon to be classic cars. The only problem that you might encounter if you own one of these babies is the fact that the replacement parts are sometimes very hard to find outside of Japan.
This is my top 3 list. However, don't take it as an absolute because there are so many other great companies out there (like Daimler AG, which produces Mercedes-Benz cars, Volkswagen, Nissan and Honda) that didn't make it on the list. In reality, everyone has his own list.
