Couzens Against Private Control of Muscle Shoals.

Special to The New York Times.

DETROIT, Dec. 5.—Despite the fact that he was a former business parter of Henry Ford and has commended some of Ford's acts since severing relations with him, Mayor James Couzens, who becomes a United States Senator Wednesday, does not look with approval upon Ford's efforts to acquire control of Muscle Shoals.

"So far as I know, it would naturally be my disposition to oppose Muscle Shoals being turned over to any private interests," said Mayor Couzens this afternoon. "This has been a definite conviction for many years. Consequently, there would have to be something very unusual in Mr. Ford's proposition to warrant my approval."
