Ford Division is forming what promises to be the world's largest car enthusiast organization. The new association will cater to a variety of interests ranging from rallye road trips to off - road driving and drag strip competition.
Ford Motorsports Association (FMA) is aiming for 25,000 members by the end of the year.
"FMA's primary aim is to keep a love affair burning strong—America's love affair with the automobile," said Joe Heisler, Ford Division special promotions coordinator.
"Our new organization will give all American car owners—and very importantly, their families, too—more chance to have fun with their cars than ever before," said Mr. Heisler.
Included within the FMA will be the Sports-Rallye Club (an extension of the former Mustang Club), the Ford Drag Club and the new Ford Off - Road Club.
In addition to launching the new off - road organization, FMA will expand the activities of the other two organizations and offer a variety of services for all members.
For instance, all members will receive monthly, 16 - page, four color newsletter—FMA Motorsports World. They also will receive identification cards, patches, decals, and bumper stickers. Added events will include regional club events and group outings to major races.
