Police Believe Capture Will Help Solve Many Robberies.
Through the recovery of three automobiles alleged to have been stolen within the last two months Detectives Mullen, Brady and Dowd of the Automobile Squad yesterday believed they were on the trail of a band that had stolen forty automobiles during the last year. One of the cars was owned by Cecil A. Strong of 592 East 162d Street.
Tony Spino of 18 Cortlandt Street, Tarrytown, N. Y., said he bought the car and another one from Frank Castalda of 16 East 204th Street, the Bronx. Castalda was arrested at a service station at 3,518 Jerome Avenue, the Bronx. Detectives say they found two other cars in a garage at Castalda's home. Castalda was arrested, the detectives said, soon after he attempted to sell a motor truck to Spino, which was discovered to have been stolen from a garage at 383 East 201st Street last Saturday.
