ASKS BUS ORDER BE IGNORED

The New York Times
December 30, 1922

Jabez Dunningham Tells Hylan Emergency Exists in Queens.

Jabez Dunningham, Executive Secretary of the Community Councils of New York City, called upon Mayor Hylan yesterday and requested him to ignore the injunction stopping the operation of municipal buses between Flushing and Long Island City in Queens.  Mr. Dunningham contended that a new line would be justified because of the emergency which he declared existed on account of conditions at the transfer point near the Woodside car barns.

This is the junction point between the surface lines operated by the receivers of the Steinway lines and those operated by the New York & Queens County Raiway Company.  Mr. Dunningham asserted that no provision had been made for the protection of waiting passengers and that many were compelled to stand out in the storm of Thursday night and during the cold weather yesterday.
