“After Strong Test; McGilton Feels Confident About Michigan ”

BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 13, 2007) - - After two consecutive weeks of leading the ARCA RE/MAX Series field, Phillip McGilton (pronounced McJilton) steers towards Michigan International Speedway looking to keep his SIPerformance Ford Fusion up front and become the 10th different winner in 11 ARS races this season.

Tire failure as McGilton took the lead prevented the solid finish the team had planned for Pocono Raceway. Hoosier rubber not expected to be an issue during Friday’s race and McGilton turns toward his Brewco Motorsports team for a fast racecar.

“This is probably one of the races, I’ve been waiting for since Daytona,” said McGilton, who sits sixth in the championship standings heading into MIS this week.

“ Michigan is an awesome place. It’s a wide track with a lot of racing room. I think this is the type of race that can send us into victory lane for the first time this season.”

Of course, McGilton feels strong about his chances in Friday’s race after last month’s open test saw the No. 47 team post strong and competitive lap times equaling a strong confidence booster for the team heading into the 11th race of the season.

“The test went great,” offered McGilton. “We were fast off the truck and we have great horsepower for the race. We were able to outrun Erik (Darnell) and Sam (Hornish, Jr) during our race runs which gives me a good feeling about how things are going to go for my second ever visit to the track.”

He continued, “Ford has a great track record at Michigan International Speedway. We’re looking forward to keeping our Ford Fusion up front and putting our blue oval in victory circle in their backyard.”

McGilton slipped to sixth in the championship standings last Saturday at Pocono. He trails fellow ARCA rookie Michael McDowell by 60 points. Based upon Brewco Motorsports speedway program results this season, retracting the points lost last week should be no problem.

The ARCA 200 (100 laps/200 miles) is the 11th of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Thursday, June 14th with a two hour practice (10:00am-12:00pm) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 3:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag on Friday at 5:00pm Local Time. The race will be aired live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com
