Chauffeurs Give Damaging Evidence Against Terre Haute Mayor.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind., March 31.—John Lindsey, Rupert Kitz, and Edwin Wise, testifying in the trial of Mayor Donn Roberts, charged with election frauds, to-day declared that they had been hired by Roberts to haul repeaters from booth to booth during the registration last October, and had been paid by him for the work.  Lindsey and Kintz are chauffeurs, while Wise owns the garage where they are employed.  Lindsey and Kintz admitted that they themselves had registered in several precincts.  Lindsey is 19 years old and Kintz 17.  Kintz said he received $3 from Mayor Roberts for his work.

Chief of Police Edward Holler, who was sentenced to jail for contempt of court by Judge Charles M. Fortune to-day, was released to-night on bond of $1,000 pending an appeal.
