Low Paving Bids in Chicago.
The New York Times
CHICAGO, March 14.—Bids for street improvements opened by the Board of Local Improvements to-day developed the fact that the cost of street paving has not advanced materially over last year. Asphalt prices are particularly low, the Barber Asphalt Company bidding $1.99 per square yard for paving a system of streets in Hyde Park. The usual price is about $2.10 to $2.20. Granite prices were also very low.
