Traffic on Broadway was tied up for half an hour yesterday by fire in the basement of a five-story building at 442 and 444 Broome Street, at the northwest corner of Broadway, which, thirty or forty years ago, was used as a hotel. The fire, confined to the premises of Dallek Brothers, dealers in office furniture, did damage of about $2,500.
Tire Prices Advanced.

The United States Rubber Company and the B. F. Goodrich Company yesterday announced advances ranging from 10 to 12½ per cent. in consumers' price of pneumatic tires and tubes. The advance announced by the United States Rubber Company takes effect Jan. 2, 1923.
