Fugitives Caught in Arizona

FBI Albuquerque Division
Public Affairs Specialist Frank Fisher
August 20, 2010

Carol K.O. Lee, Special Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, commends the Apache County Sheriff’s Office for executing the arrests of Arizona fugitive John McCluskey and his accomplice, Casslyn Welch, without incident.

The Apache County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the apprehension by officers of the U.S. Forest Service and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

McCluskey and Welch were arrested at a campsite in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest last night. They are expected to be taken to the Mohave County Jail in Kingman, Arizona.

Ms. Lee noted Evidence Response Teams from the FBI’s Phoenix and Albuquerque divisions are processing the scene of the arrests.

The FBI will continue to work closely with the New Mexico State Police on the investigation into the slayings of Gary and Linda Haas, whose bodies were found near Santa Rosa, N.M., earlier this month.
