May 2nd 2014 - SPEEDWAY, Ind. – After a very successful inaugural presentation in 2013, Indy Family Foundation’s "Festival on Main” presented by Firestone is scheduled for a bigger racing fan extravaganza on Friday, May 9, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The city of Speedway’s Main Street will be transformed into a celebration of the 2014 Grand Prix of Indianapolis (May 10) and Indianapolis 500-Mile Race (May 25) which will include a fun experience for the entire family.

Among the May 9th activities will include live music, unique food and beer presentations, a custom car and motorcycle show, a special "KidZone” as well as other family-oriented activities that will end with a spectacular fireworks show. The event will take place "rain or shine” on May 9th and general admission is free.

The "Festival on Main” is located in front of the Dallara Indycar Factory and Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, just a few blocks from the famed 16th and Georgetown entrance to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Proceeds from the "Festival on Main” will go to the Indy Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids those in the motor sports community who find themselves in financial need due to hardship caused by illness, injury or death.

Drivers from the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 2014 Indy 500 along with local celebrities will participate in a variety of events throughout the evening including the Celebrity Dunk Tank and photo opportunities.

The family-oriented event is being hosted by Verizon IndyCar Series driver/owner Ed Carpenter, his wife Heather along with their three children, Makenna, Ryder and Cruz.

"We were thrilled with the attendance and the corporate participation in our inaugural event last year and expect an even bigger event in ‘Festival on Main” this year,” said Heather Carpenter, president of the Indy Family Foundation. "Despite a brief rain shower, the kickoff event was a great success and we can’t wait for this year’s presentation. The event is a tremendous way for racing fans and the Indianapolis community to kick off the month of May racing activities. It’s a great way for the families to participate in a street party and assist a great charitable cause.”

Another popular attraction returning this year will be the "Zipline” rides located next to the Dallara factory building. The "KidZone” area will feature bounce houses, obstacle course, Sumo wrestling suits, Fire Safety House demonstrations, glitter tattoo stations and face painting. The fee for the "KidZone” will be $10 for an unlimited play wristband and $25 for a "Family Pack” of unlimited play.

In addition to the variety of events in the "Festival on Main,” the patrons will have the opportunity to visit a special local "Craft Brew Garden” featuring local beer companies. Food will be available through the Cluster Food Truck Congregation with a cavalcade of food parade.

The custom car and motorcycle show will be displayed on Main Street in Speedway. The winning machines will be awarded with various passes good for entry into the IMS during the month of May. Pre-registration is available at www.indyfamilyfoundation.com.
