Plant at South Bend Turning Out Cars at Capacity.

Special to The New York Times.

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Sept. 7.—Reductions in the prices of Studebaker cars were announced tonight by A. R. Erskine, President of the Studebaker Corporation. Lower costs resulting from large production are given as the reason for decreasing the prices of the light six roadster from $1,335 to $1,150; coupe, $1,695 to $1,550, and sedan from $1,995 to $1,850.

Prices last December were $1,485 for the touring car and $2,450 for the sedan.

The Studebaker plant at South Bend is continuing production with a capacity force of over 7,000 employes. Throughout the period of depression the plant has been operating on this basis. Heavy demand for the light six is reported, especially from the East.
