Lester J. Richard died November 8, 1971 at the Rayne-Branch Hospital in Rayne, Louisiana after a brief illness. He was 63.

At the time of his death he was chairman of the Louisiana Region and Secretary-Treasurer of the Acadia-Rice Chapter.

He was a charter member of the Louisiana Region, The Evangeline Chapter, and the Acadia Rice Chapter. He held consecutive membership in the region since its formation in 1954; was serving his third term as chairman, and had served numerous times in other chapter and regional offices.

For the past 17 years Lester had maintained his enthusiasm and active participation in club activities and he will be greatly missed by all antique automobile enthusiasts in the area.
