The 23rd Annual Invitational Lake Forest Antique Car Meet of the Illinois Region was held at Barat College in Lake Forest Saturday, July 24, 1971. There were 215 cars, all beauties - and many spectators.
The brass parade was a special feature which included a fashion show of ladies costumes that matched the antique car eras. Louise Pearson was Mistress of Ceremonies. The flea market was large and active and the White Elephant auction generated a lot of lively bidding. At an excellent dinner at the new Ramada Inn, announcement of the following special awards was made:
Oldest Brass - David Kolzow, 1906 Lindsley; Fred Bauer, 1906 Cadillac; W.F. Hutson, 1906 Cadillac
Best Brass, pre-1916 - Kenneth Pearson, 1911 Lozier
Best Antique, 1916-1925 - G.E. Koets, 1917 National
Best Classic, 1926-1933 - Art Lieberman, 1929 Bentley
