LONDON, New Hampshire (July 9, 2014) - - NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie Codie Rohrbaugh (pronounced row-ball) was perfectly fine with flying under the radar in his series debut at Five Flags (Fla.) Speedway last month.

This week, however, Rohrbaugh, the driver of the No. 05 Grant County Mulch Toyota Camry looks to capitalize on his 13th place finish in the Pensacola 150 with a top-10 run in Friday evening’s Granite State 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).

While the Petersburg, West Virginia native has never been to the flat 1.058-mile oval, he hopes the momentum he gained in the sunshine state will carry over to his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series start.

“I’m heading to New Hampshire this week, just as optimistic as I was going to Five Flags,” said Rohrbaugh. “These K&N cars a lot different than anything else I’ve driven before, but I felt like as the race went on at Five Flags the more comfortable I became. Hopefully that will continue this week.”

Unlike his most recent race, where the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East was the main attraction, Rohrbaugh’s event will be jammed packed into a star-studded day, which will consist of action for two of NASCAR’s national series and more at the historic racetrack.

“I know I have a lot to learn at New Hampshire, so in a way I’m glad that there is a lot going on because I’ll have some time to go somewhere and watch,” he said. “I don’t have many NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events on my schedule this year, so any opportunity I can take advantage of and learn, I need to do so. Hopefully, it will help from inside the racecar.”

So, just how determined is the vibrant 20-year old in succeeding in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East? A lot.

Instead of participating in the X-1R Pro Cup Series event at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina on Friday night, Rohrbaugh and his Grant County Mulch Racing team have steered their transporter north, hoping that their decision will pay off in the long-run.

Currently, Rohrbaugh leads the rookie of the year standings in that division and sits fifth in the championship standings, but he’s okay with the decision to allow the competition to catch-up and likely drop from his fifth place in the championship rundown.

“We thought about it long and hard,” Rohrbaugh sounded. “We love the X-1R Pro Cup Series. It’s full of good people with classic short track racing, but NASCAR is my future. It’s where I want to be. We need to get ahead of the (learning) curve in any way possible, so sometimes sacrifices have to be made. We made that with opting out of racing at Tri-County on Friday night.

“If we can load up from New Hampshire with our No. 05 Grant County Mulch Toyota Camry in one piece and a solid finish, I’ll be stoked.”

Further details on the remainder of the team’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series schedule will be announced following NHMS.

The Granite State 100 is set for Friday, July 11 from “The Magic Mile.” The 100-lap (105.8-mile) feature is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 6:00 p.m. The race will be tape-delayed on FOX Sports 1 with an air date on Sunday, July 20 at 12:00 p.m. All times Eastern.
