Reference Desk: 1994 Skylark GS 2-Dr Numbers

Bill Crittenden
December 4, 2014

As always, Reference Desk items are posted for two main reasons: hopefully, if someone has a question that's been asked before Google will direct someone to the answer here, and if you're reading this and you have better information than I do, please e-mail Admin@CarsAndRacingStuff.com with what you have and I can pass it along to the person who made the original request.

Steve Oatway writes:

I wonder if you can help me? I have scouring the Internet just to find out how many 1994 Buick Skylark GS 2-Dr Models were made. Do you happen to know?
I do not know if this was made in Canada or the USA but I know it is very rare. The VIN is 1G4NM13M7RC258599, and it is fully loaded with factory upgrades like A/C.
It is quite important because my Insurance Company here is government controlled and they want to estimate my car's value. (ICBC in British Columbia) Being 20 years old they were trying to convince me to scrap it, even though it is in beautiful condition. Two people have hit me lightly, while stopped, in the past two months, and ICBC hates paying for repairs on older vehicles. I am NOT scrapping it.
Thank you, in advance, if you can help me.

My response:

Those are really pretty cars, and they really stood out, one of my favorites from the 90's! Sorry, for some reason the Standard Catalog of American Cars I have doesn't cover anything but Pontiac for that year. Can I post this question on my site for other people to see? I'll leave your name & email address out of it and forward any responses back to you.

Steve replied:

Thank you Bill for replying.
By all means post my name and email. It is frustrating, but I did find a copy of that Standard Catalog at the Downtown Vancouver library which I could travel to, but you say it doesn't cover Buick? That is very odd, and I will phone the library, as they have good service, and will look things up for you. I am going to Google the car and the word Forums, to see if their is a club of sorts who might know the answer. I have asked all kinds of question about cars over the years, and never had so much difficulty finding such a simple answer.
Thanks again, Steve

Can anyone help Steve? E-mail him at steveoactor@yahoo.ca with any information that might help! And copy admin@CarsAndRacingStuff.com so that I can add it to The Crittenden Automotive Library for anyone else who might need the information. Thank you!
