Association Head Claims Insignia Used by Car Owner.
Convicted of the charge of having an untrue and misleading sign on the side of his taxicab, Solomon Rothman of 171 South Second Street, Brooklyn, was fined $200 with the alternative of sixty days in jail in the Court of Special Sessions yesterday. The complaint was made by Otto Gutfreund of 1,725 Broadway, treasurer and manager of the 20th Century Taxicab Association, Inc.
It was charged that Rothman was in possession of a taxicab painted brown and white, which bore the insignia of Gutfreund's concern. Rothman was formerly connected with the company.
