Alex Tagliani earned a ninth-place finish in the Firestone 550 on Saturday night to cap off a successful weekend for Team Barracuda – BHA at Texas Motor Speedway.
The Canadian driver started the 228-lap competition from the pole, his second consecutive P1 start at TMS and first for the team. He led the first 20 laps and then continued to fight hard for the remainder of the race, despite battling an understeering car.
The Team Barracuda – BHA crew worked hard to make changes during the four pits stops, making improvements to the handling as the race continued. Overall, the No. 98 Honda-powered DW12 was competitive for Tagliani.
“I would say it was not the best night, but overall I’m pleased with the performance of Team Barracuda – BHA,” said Tagliani. “We still have more learning to do but I think if we finished ninth on a bad night, that shows a lot of progress that we’ll see here in the next couple of races.
“We just need to finish every race and finish well in the championship points, and good things will happen. If we put ourselves in a position to compete and run up front, I think we’ll have a chance.”
Next weekend, the IZOD IndyCar Series heads to the historic Milwaukee Mile for the eighth race on the schedule. The Milwaukee IndyFest race will take place on Saturday, June 16, with pre-race activities starting at 12 p.m. CST and estimated green flag drop at 12:30 p.m. The 225-lap competition will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network and Sirius XM Channel 94.
