“I think we’ve learned a lot from the past few races. I never approach a race weekend feeling like it’s going to be easy, but I do feel very encouraged. We might be able to apply some things we learned at Milwaukee to Iowa, and unload a bit quicker with a setup that’s in our window. It would give us a little more time to play with the fine tuning and the overall setup of the car.
Iowa is a pretty unique track. Everybody will have to adapt to the new concept of qualifying with heat races. Honestly, I’m not too sure of why we’re doing it. To me, it defies the purpose of going to an oval and showcasing the best flying lap you can put together for position. I’m not sure if there are any other series that do this but we’ll see how it works out. As a team, we have to make sure that we don’t put ourselves in a bad spot because we have to be able to make the race the next day. It’s definitely going to keep the stress level pretty high on Friday.”
