Alex Tagliani and his Barracuda Racing crew earned an eighth place finish during a caution-filled race on the streets of Baltimore Sunday afternoon.

The Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT featured plenty of action for the fans, including nine caution flags and a constant threat of rain. Barracuda Racing pitted on lap 16 as rainclouds rolled in and precipitation became consistent. The radar showed a clearing only 11 laps later, so the team made another pit stop to switch back to slicks. A final pit-stop on lap 57 completed the team’s three-stop strategy.

Barracuda Racing now leads the IZOD IndyCar Series in top ten finishes, with Baltimore marking eight out of the last nine races. Tagliani expressed his confidence in the team’s performance, despite a minor setback during the rain-related pit stop sequence.

“During the race, while we were on rain tires, there was a miscommunication between Todd [Malloy] and myself. I think we were both talking at the same time and I didn’t hear him tell me to pit. I didn’t bring the car in when he told me to because of the miscommunication, so it cost us a bit but we recovered really well.

We started P13 and we just never gave up. We struggled a bit this weekend in regards to car setup but we definitely made some better calls and adjustments for the race, I’m very proud of the Barracuda Racing team and we were able to score some more points for the championship. It was really good. Plus, a lot of things that we learned can be applied for the future and will definitely make our team stronger.”

In two weeks, the IZOD IndyCar Series heads to Fontana, CA for the season finale. The MAVTV 500 will take place at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday, September 15. Pre-race activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. PDT with an estimated green flag scheduled for 5:50 p.m. The 250-lap competition will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast on IMS Radio Network and Sirius (XM 94 and Sirius 212).
