The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today released the first group of 1998 frontal and side-impact crash test results.

The release, NHTSA 3-98, shows frontal crash test results for the Chevrolet Cavalier two-door, Chevrolet Cavalier four-door, Dodge Stratus four-door, Ford Ranger pickup, Dodge Caravan, Ford Contour four-door, Dodge Neon four-door, Honda Accord four-door, Toyota Camry four-door, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Grand Caravan and the Ford Windstar van. These new test results, along with results for vehicles tested previously that remain valid because the same or essentially the same vehicles are being sold in model year 1998, provide safety information on a total of 39 vehicles.

Side-impact tests results included are for the Buick Century four-door, Buick LeSabre four-door, Subaru Legacy 4-door, Mercedes-Benz C230 4-door, Chevrolet Cavalier 4-door, Ford Escort ZX2 two-door, Dodge Neon four-door, Mazda 626 four-door, Pontiac Bonneville four-door and the Ford Mustang two-door.
