JOLIET, Illinois (September 6, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Billy Tanner looks to Saturday’s Chicagoland ARCA 200 as a day to shine.

Following a successful top-20 run at Gateway International Raceway, Tanner is itching to put his Stott Classic Racing team into the top-10 for the first time this season.

“We are going to do it,” said Tanner when asked about Chicagoland. “We’ve come a very long way this season with Stott Classic Racing. This team is awesome. I can’t say enough about them. We’ve had some runs gone bad, but that’s racing. In the end, the team has persevered and we’re looking forward to Chicagoland.”

He continued, “We’ve worked hard this year to put this team in position for 2008. We’ve made a lot of strides and I think everyone is looking forward to Saturday’s race.”

Tanner had an opportunity to test at Chicagoland last month in preparation for Saturday’s event. He notes that experience as a critical point in the team’s building process.

“Corrie (Stott, crew chief and car owner) has made it work out where we’ve been able to test almost everyone and that’s real important, especially to me as a rookie driver. We made a lot of gains at the test and I hope what we learned there will come back into our hands for practice and qualifying on Friday.”

Tanner’s banking on his run at Kentucky Speedway this past May as a way to prepare himself for Saturday’s race. “I think almost all the drivers will agree, the track looks a lot like Kentucky Speedway, but once you put four wheel and nearly 200 mph on Chicagoland Speedway, it really is a lot different. Luckily for us, we’ve been able to put together a good setup, which I think will help us tremendously this weekend. Corrie knows what I am looking for now, so I know we’re going to be okay.”

Sailing into Gateway, Tanner, 25 is in the 10th of 12 races with SCR (Stott Classic Racing) and sponsor CheapCaribbean.com as the group is using this season as track time to prepare for a full season run in 2008.

“After Chicagoland, we’re heading to Talladega Superspeedway and Toledo Speedway in October. As much as I’m looking forward to Saturday’s race, I’m also extremely excited about next month’s races. We have a wicked fast car for Talladega and I ran well at Toledo in the spring, so I’m looking forward to both venues. Before we can look ahead to those races though, we have to stay focused on Chicagoland.”

“I know how much Corrie and the entire Stott Classic Racing team wants a top-10 and believe me I want it bad too. The components are coming together to make it happen, so look out ARCA, here we come,” sounded Tanner.

Crew Chief and car owner Corrie Stott offered his two-cents on Chicagoland.

“We’ve shown some success at the intermediate tracks this season and there’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll be competitive this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway,” Stott added. “Billy has done a great job the last couple of races. With a little luck, we’ll be in great shape for Saturday.”

The Chicagoland ARCA 200 (134 laps/200 miles) is the 20th of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The seventh ARCA race held at Chicagoland Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, September 7 with a two hour practice session planned from 1:00pm-3:00pm. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 5:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag, Saturday, September 8 shortly after 1:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com.
