“Whiskey Girls To Sponsor No. 24 Entry At Pocono Raceway”

LONG POND, Pennsylvania (June 6, 2008) - - Veteran ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) driver Mike Harmon returns to Pocono Raceway this weekend looking for his first top-10 finish of the 2008 season while carrying sponsorship from Whiskey Girls on his familiar No. 24 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in Saturday’s Pocono ARCA 200.

In his last trip to the 2.5-mile triangle race course last August, Harmon stormed from his 25th place qualifying position to net an impressive 10th place finish awarding the Alabama native with his ninth career top-10 ARCA finish. 10 months later Harmon is ready to redeem his recent streak of bad luck and put his Mike Harmon Racing entry back into the top-10 Saturday afternoon.

“I’m glad to be back at Pocono,” sounded Harmon, who has spent the 2008 season dabbling in both the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series. I love Pocono Raceway; it’s one of my favorite tracks. We’ve worked hard on our car(s) over the past couple of weeks and I have a feeling we’ll come out of the box strong this weekend.”

Two races ago, Harmon while battling inside the top-15 but was collected in a vicious incident at Kentucky Speedway. Harmon was hoping to utilize that same machine in Saturday’s race. Instead, the MHR team has brought a different piece from the team’s Mooresville, North Carolina shop with hopes of

Currently locking 17th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship standings, Harmon is looking to rebound after a tough-weekend in the series’ most recent outing at Toledo Speedway where an engine failure left the Mike Harmon Racing team on the sidelines and dropping the driver/car owner outside the top-15. 50 markers keep Harmon from reentering the 15th position currently occupied by Norm Benning.

“No doubt that we took a hit in the standings, but we’ll bounce back. I’m here to race. I enjoy competing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. It’s a great home and we have a great sponsor that we’re hoping to keep here for the remainder of the season. With a good run this weekend we can put ourselves back on track.”

For the first time this season, Mike Harmon Racing will field two automobiles for ARCA competition. Long-time racecar driver Art Seeger will pilot the team’s second entry, the No. 7 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the Pocono ARCA 200 on Saturday. Seeger is a native of Tom Rivers, New Jersey. He last drove for Harmon ironically at Pocono Raceway in June of last year.

“It can be very beneficial to have two cars, especially at Pocono Raceway,” Harmon added. “Art has been around the racing scene for a long time and he’s a good driver. He is safe on equipment and is a smart racer. Our goal is to have both of our entries in the top-10 this weekend and I hope we can make it a reality.”

While Harmon is participating in the eighth event of the 2008 season, Harmon’s NASCAR Nationwide Series program will take a break from competition this weekend and skip Nashville Superspeedway (Lebanon, Tennessee) before returning to the schedule next weekend at Kentucky Speedway. “I could have easily gone to Nashville, but I want another shot at Pocono. We have a good car, a very strong motor and an awesome sponsor. With those three components inked together, we could be the sleeper story of the weekend.”

The Pocono ARCA 200 (200 miles/80 laps) is the eighth of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The first of two events held at Pocono Raceway this season is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, June 6th with an hour and forty minute practice session planned from 10:15 a.m.-11:55 a.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated to begin at 1:45 p.m. The field will take the green flag on Saturday, June 7th shortly after 1:00 p.m. The race will same-day tape delayed on SPEED scheduled to air Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. Additional race coverage including live timing and scoring will be available online at arcaracing.com.
