TALLADEGA, Alabama (January 23, 2008) - - Mother Nature wreaked havoc on sophomore-bound ARCA team Sheltra Motorsports on Tuesday at Talladega Superspeedway after steady rain showers forced the postponement of the team’s private test until Wednesday morning.

Sheltra Motorsports is utilizing the private test to put the final touches on the team’s No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS as the team prepares to make their Daytona International Speedway (DIS) debut in the 2008 ARCA season opener, the ARCA 200 at Daytona set for Saturday, February 9, 2008. The Whitesville, Kentucky based organization brought the same Chevrolet Monte Carlo that stormed into the top-10 in the overall drafting session in pre-season testing at Daytona last month.

With a much improved weather forecast scheduled for Wednesday, the Sheltra Motorsports team plan to participate in an eight-hour test session led by crew chief John Hayden and Championship team manager Keith Strunk.

“You can’t control Mother Nature,” said 21-year old driver Patrick Sheltra. “We were hoping that the skies would clear up, but it never was meant to be. We spent the day focusing on the car and consulting within our team on the purpose of the test session. We have a game plan set and I am looking forward to Wednesday.”

He continued, “It really seems like a long time ago since the last time I was here ( Talladega ), but it really wasn’t. Driving (personal vehicle) around on the track Tuesday quickly brought back memories of my first restrictor plate race last October. This test is so crucial to our success at Daytona next month. I have no doubt in my mind that we’ll complete our to-do list with no problem and be all set to go.”

With the delay in ARCA testing, Sheltra would also get a late jump on his 2008 UMP Dirt Late Model season. Sheltra was expected to compete Wednesday night at Golden Isles Speedway, but instead will be forced to miss the opening festivities and make his season debut Thursday night in Brunswick , Georgia .

Eddie Sharp Racing, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard, Ken Schrader Racing and Andy Belmont Racing are all also expected to test Wednesday as a result of Tuesday’s washout.
