Zizzo Looking for Another Personal Best at E-Town

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – After making the show at the last two events (Charlotte, Houston) and ending a three-race DNQ slump, TJ Zizzo and his PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel dragster team are ready to move to the next level: winning rounds on Sunday. For the Chicago-based team, the Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, is the best place to do it as it was the site of Zizzo's personal-best ET of 3.84. He earned that mark at this event last year.

"Last year we ran our career best number," he said, preparing for this weekend's race. "We have changed everything since then and have turned a corner recently. We look forward to running as well if not better if the weather is conducive."

Zizzo knows the field at this event, like every other on the NHRA Mello Yello Series schedule, will be tough. "All 19 cars that are entered for the event are good enough to qualify for the 16-car field," he said. "Qualifying will be very exciting and bad to the bone."

Racing on the East Coast provides some fun for Zizzo as well. In addition to hosting PEAK Heavy Duty Anti-Freeze and BlueDEF customers, childhood friends of his father and team owner, Tony, will make the trip as well.

"My dad’s friends from Long Island will be in our pit so the car will be heavy because we will be eating well!" he said. "Plus, I love peoples attitudes on the East coast. At least you know where you stand right away -- right or wrong."

Zizzo Racing and the PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel dragster are heading to the Toyota NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, NJ, this weekend. Nitro qualifying is scheduled for Friday at 4:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time and again Saturday at 12:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. The first round of eliminations is set to kick off at 11 a.m. Sunday. Zizzo Racing Fast Facts:

Zizzo has piloted the PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel dragster in the NHRA Full Throttle Series since 2003.
Zizzo’s career-best ET is 3.843 (1000 ft.) achieved in 2012 at this event in Englishtown, NJ. His career-best speed is 319.98 mph (1000 ft.) which came in Houston in 2012 as well.
The Toyota NHRA Summernationals is the fifth race of the year for Zizzo.
This weekend is Zizzo’s second time racing at this event in Englishtown, NJ. Last year, he fell in the first round to Spencer Massey.
