Zizzo, PEAK Team Happy to Make NHRA Debut at Sonoma

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – TJ Zizzo is generally a pretty happy guy. Even though he missed the field at his home track of Route 66 Raceway by .003 seconds last month, the second-generation drag racer has a smile on his face as he and the PEAK Motor Oil NHRA Mello Yello Series Top Fuel team prepare for their first-ever race at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

“I have never experienced Northern California and I’m looking forward to it,” Zizzo said as he was preparing to leave the Chicago area for the hills of wine country. “I heard that sheep graze the land so there is no pollution pumped into the air. I heard I better stop at a vineyard and enjoy the wine. I heard the views and weather are beautiful and I cannot wait!”

Despite not running the full NHRA season, the team has been able to improve the PEAK Motor Oil rail at every event in which they run. Zizzo Racing is looking forward to getting back to the track for the first of four-consecutive races to win some rounds.

“We have only made 21 passes this year so it will be great to attend for races in a row,” Zizzo said. “I am pumped to step on the gas with all the candles lit and enjoying the scenery as I wiz by at 320 mph.

“Our entire team is pumped and ready to rock and roll.”

Zizzo Racing and the PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel dragster are racing in the NHRA Sonoma Nationals this weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Qualifying kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time and again Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to start Sunday at 11 a.m. For more information regarding this event, click HERE.

Zizzo Racing Fast Facts:

Zizzo has piloted the PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel dragster in the NHRA Full Throttle Series since 2003.
Zizzo’s career-best ET is 3.843 (1000 ft.) achieved in 2012 in Englishtown, NJ. His career-best speed is 319.98 mph (1000 ft.) which came in Houston in 2012.
The NHRA Sonoma Nationals is the seventh race of the year for Zizzo.
This weekend is Zizzo’s first-ever race at Sonoma Raceway.
