The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) latest crash test results for 1999 model vehicles—including the first-ever results for pickups and sport utility vehicles—are now available on the agency’s World Wide Web site: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov.
The 11 vehicles included in the latest results are: Pontiac Grand Am four-door, Saturn SL four-door, Toyota 4-Runner four-door utility, Honda Civic four-door, Chevrolet Blazer four-door utility and S-10 extended cab pickup, Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup, Ford Ranger pickup, Honda Accord two-door, Honda CR-V four-door utility, and the Mitsubishi Galant four-door.
For both frontal and side impact, the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash test results are reported in a range of one to five stars, with five stars showing the best crash protection for vehicles. Frontal tests should be compared only within the same weight class.
