Fort Atkinson, WI (June 28, 2012) Madison International Speedway had to make a decision after the heat and drought conditions has risen the fire danger to extreme levels. MIS track manager, Dave Grueneberg, regretfully announced the postponement of the fireworks and the Mid-American portion of Friday night’s program. A Mid-American show as well as the fireworks is in the process of being rescheduled later this summer as we speak. Dave is sincerely sorry about this late announcement and stated, “Once the weather conditions get back to normal we will be able to safely put on a fireworks show.
Doug Strasburg of Mid-American states, “ Dave contacted me about 1:30 Thursday afternoon with their decision. We’ve already discussed alternative dates and are looking forward to making it a great Mid-Am event”. Strasburg continued, “Sometimes life hands you lemons, you know the rest and we hope to make it sweet!” The reschedule date is hoped to be announced by race time next Thursday when Mid-American debuts the Stock Cars at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI.
Racing will continue on Friday night at Madison International Speedway as part of Salute to America Night. “The admission price for Friday night is going to be the same as a regular night,” said Grueneberg. “All veterans and active duty military personnel will be admitted free as part of the Salute to America Night.” Go to http://www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com/ or contact MIS at (608)835-9700 for details.
