FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (March 8, 2012) – As the Mid-American Stock Car Series embarks on its 20th year, the 2012 schedule boasts a new venue to MASCS as well as the return to others.
Of course, the 2012 season opens with the 35th Annual Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, IL
Then a special Memorial Day event will bring MASCS back to Golden Sands Speedway of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. “We are so glad to be going back to ‘Sands’. It is a great facility and a great track for the Mid-American cars. We look forward to working with Craig Bassuener and his staff to bring a great show to this facility,” says Doug Strasburg co-owner of MASCS.
LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway will host the MASCS 20th Reunion race on June 2nd. Strasburg continues, “We are hoping to get as many past MASCS champions and competitors as possible to be in attendance and do battle in a special race that evening.”
The spectacular fireworks display draws MASCS back to Madison International Speedway, Oregon, WI on June 29 for more spectacular Mid-American competition. Don’t miss it!!
July 5th, will find the MASCS at a new venue for the cars. Ron Wimmer and his family and staff have worked hard to keep stock cars racing around the quarter mile State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI. “I have known Ron for a long time and am excited about working with him to bring the cars to this track. It will be fun to watch Lyle Nowak defend his home turf with 16 track championships at this facility,” states Strasburg.
From up north to down south, MASCS heads to Grundy County Speedway in Morris IL. On July 29th the MASCS travelers will mix it up with the Mid-American Sportsman class that runs weekly at this venue.
After a several year hiatus, Mid-American returns to Elko Speedway on September 21st & 22nd. “This is an exciting addition to the 20th anniversary season,” says Strasburg. The premier Minnesota facility is located just a half hour south of Minneapolis. The high bank 3/8 mile promises to produce some of the finest Mid-Am competition.
Closing out the month on September 30th the cars will be revved up and ready to join up again for the 47th National Short Track Championships in Loves Park, IL at Rockford Speedway.
In traditional Mid-American form the final race of the season will be on Oct. 6th for the famous 42nd Oktoberfest at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.
When will the MASCS Champion be decided? It’s anyone’s guess. So join us for a season of action, as the Drivers of the Mid-American Stock Car Series get ready to chase the 20th Championship.
