Mid-American Announces 'Dash for the Duel'

Mid American Stock Car Series
August 15, 2009

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (August 15, 2009) – The Mid-American Stock Car Series announced Saturday an additional race to the September Showdown at Dells Raceway Park on Saturday, September 12. The Hankscraft Inc. “Dash for the Duel” presented by Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center will determine the overall winner of the Dells Duels which were run on May 30 and July 25.

The eight-car, ten-lap shootout will be run either as a third heat or a separate race after the September Showdown feature event. Seven drivers have qualified by average finish from the first two races at DRP and one additional driver will be added as a “Wild Card.”

Eligible drivers include: Tom McClintock, Brian Back, Mark Pluer, Justin Neisius, Paul Neisius, Bill Prietzel and Mike Beyer. The lineup will be determined by best overall finish in the first two races. McClintock, with an average finish of third, will lead the field to the green flag alongside Brian Back.

Three drivers remain eligible for the “Wild Card” spot. Those eligible drivers had the eighth, ninth and tenth place average finishes in the two Dells Duels. They are: Troy Shear, Jr., Mike Lichtfield and Jake Finney.

Fans can e-mail their vote to MIDAMERICANFANINFO@yahoo.com. Only one vote per e-mail address will be counted. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 5, one week before the event.

“Our vision with the ‘Dash for the Duel’ is to reward those drivers who attend, and race well in, each of our events at DRP,” said MASCS co-owner Doug Strasburg. “Dells Raceway Park has become a great supporter of Mid-American and we hope to continue this relationship into the future.”

Thanks to the generosity of Hankscraft Inc. and of Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center, the “Dash for the Duel” will be more than just a run-of-the-mill heat race.

Hankscraft Inc., of Reedsburg, Wis., sponsored last year’s running of Dells Duel Part Two. For the second consecutive year, they will present the “Dells Duels” plaque to the winner. They have also donated to the purse for the dash. Thanks to Hankscraft, the “Dash for the Duel” will pay more than twice that of a normal heat race.

Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center, located in Wisconsin Dells, hosts the Mid-American banquet each year. Thanks to Wintergreen, the winner will receive a room and two meals. Two other drivers in the dash will be chosen at random for a room, as well.
