Mid American Stock Car Series
May 2009
The sun was shining, the temperatures were warm, and there wasn’t a cloud or a drop of rain in sight. It was the perfect day for… um racing? Well not quite. On Sunday, May 3rd the stars of the Mid-American Stock Car Series headed to the historic Milwaukee Mile to participate in the 7th annual Drive The Mile event.
This was the first time this season that the competitors of the MASCS got to get on track after the first three race dates were all cancelled due to rain. This once a year opportunity for fans to drive their personal vehicles around America’s Legendary Oval also gave the MASCS drivers the chance to turn a few laps themselves. Just for show, these parade laps were a great treat for spectators who came to drive their cars and enjoy the large classic car show at The Mile.
Mid-Am drivers joined with hundreds of fans to raise 3,333 pounds of food for the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee.
Special thanks to Mid-Am drivers Scott Null, Darrell Phillips, Bill Prietzel, Bobby Gutknecht, Lyle Nowak, Travis Rodewald, J.C. Stanelle, and Hank Tews for their support of this event.
The Mid-American Stock Car Series will return to The Milwaukee Mile on August 29th for the Wisconsin All-Star weekend.
The next event for the Mid-American Stock Car Series will take place on Friday, May 22 at the Golden Sands Speedway. Due to three rainouts, it will be the season opening event for Mid-American.
Golden Sands Speedway is located on Wisconsin Highway 54 approximately 10 miles west of the city of Plover, WI. For more information visit their website at www.goldensandsspeedway.com
